Alternative Investment Analyst

Senior Analyst, Investments

 

 

The Maine Public Employees Retirement System is seeking an Alternative Investment Analyst.  This position works to support the alternative investment program under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO).  Duties include analysis of traditional and alternative investments.  The analyst will prepare written analysis of investment managers, asset classes, asset allocation, and service providers (i.e. custodians, brokers, transition managers, etc.).  The analyst will assist in the preparation of management and board reports, responses to outside requests for information, and internal communications. 


Minimum Qualifications
:


1.
     
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a non-business bachelor’s degree with job related experience in investments.


2.
     
Demonstrated proficiency in the following:  Microsoft Office suite of software applications, oral presentations, business writing, working with complex automated systems, and analytical thinking and problem solving.


3.
     
Willingness to participate in the CFA or CAIA Program.


Preferred Qualifications
:

1.
     
Several years of responsible professional experience in portfolio management. 


2.
     
CFA or CAIA Charterholder.

The Maine Public Employees Retirement System is seeking a Senior Analyst, Investments.  This position works to ensure the investment program is being run effectively and within the policies set forth by the Board of Trustees, Executive Director and the Chief Investment Officer (CIO).  The position works under the direction of the Deputy Chief Investment Officer (DCIO).  Duties include analysis of investments including private equity, infrastructure, real estate, and hedge funds.  The analyst will work closely with the DCIO and the external consultant(s) in the execution of the investment programs. 

Minimum Qualifications:


1.
     
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a comparably related field.


2.
     
A minimum of three (3) years of analyst level work experience with a complex institutional or governmental investment program.


3.
     
Demonstrated proficiency in the following:  Microsoft Office suite of software applications, oral presentations, business writing, working with complex automated systems, and analytical thinking and problem solving. 


4.
     
Willingness to participate in the CFA or CAIA programs.

Preferred Qualifications
:


1.
     
Five years of responsible professional experience in alternative investments.


2.
     
One year of experience with alternative investments.


3.
     
CFA Charterholder or CAIA certification.


4.
     
MBA or similar graduate degree.
