MainePERS goal is to help keep the defined benefit retirement plans we administer well-funded. The actuarial funding levels as of June 30, 2021 for each of these plans is:

  • Maine State Employee and Teacher Retirement Program =  82.1%
  • Participating Local District Consolidated Retirement Plan = 91.1%
  • Legislative Retirement Program = 140.9%
  • Judicial Retirement Program = 107.2%

Maine State Employee and Teacher Retirement Program

Defined benefit plan funding is calculated annually on an actuarial basis. The State Employee and Teacher Retirement Program Valuation report is prepared by MainePERS’ actuary based on the actuarial assumptions MainePERS has adopted. Participating Local District Consolidated Retirement Plan

Defined benefit plan funding is calculated annually on an actuarial basis. The PLD Retirement Program Valuation report is prepared by MainePERS’ actuary based on the actuarial assumptions MainePERS has adopted.
